Pow!

A community demand management platform helping utilities and the grid be greener by engaging better with their customers and helping communities of energy users to become more sustainable and resilient. When the grid is strained we push notifications during POW! events giving actionable recommendations to community users ex. “Unplug the Tesla!” or “Let us dim your lights, coal is about to come online”. Users switch off manually or automatically if they have a smart home system. We aggregate and trade their flexibility with the utility or grid operator.

SubWave

Our idea is to exploit the distance variations between a buoy on the surface and a turbine below the wave zone. The cable that connects the two will have the turbine move up and down as the buoy is affected by the waves. The turbine is designed to convert this motion into electrical energy. These considerations help us realise more benefits, primarily that the turbine avoids rigorous conditions on the surface during the worst storms.

Norwegian Ocean Cleaning Systems has a product idea for cleaning dissolved heavy metals and micro-plastics from all type of waters and water-bearing systems. The idea is to develop a NANO-tech coating derived from a specific natural organism with the necessary adhesive properties. This technology has the potential to significantly reduce hazardous substances in marine ecosystems, aquaculture food products and potentially in atmospheric emissions.

Salcape

CCMS, Carbon Capture in Molten Salts is a patented CO2 cleaning process. CCMS is more efficient, is smaller in physical size, is more economical, and requires less maintenance than alternative solutions available today. In addition, the process runs without any added chemicals, and with zero waste. The process is highly efficient on all concentrations of CO2 in flue gas, also very low concentrations. Typical relevant industries: cement, power, and metal works.

MOHO

Moho

Building a robotic seafloor drilling rig to make economic exploration for offshore geothermal energy possible. Geothermal electricity production is clean, renewable, economically sound and technologically very similar to petroleum production, allowing direct re-use of equipment and processes from that industry. However, good onshore geothermal resources are geographically limited to a few regions around the world. Offshore resources are much more abundant, but requires cheaper exploration drilling to be economically feasible.
